We’ve been so busy lately, we forgot to report on our adventures at the World’s Greatest Dog Wash which raised nearly $14,000 for the Lort Smith Animal Hospital.
Hosted by our very own Managing Director Lisa Louden, the World’s Greatest Dog Wash – created by the wonderful team at Neo Tokyo – enabled Lort Smith to purchase a much-needed and state-of-the-art ultrasound machine to help diagnosis of their tiny animal patients.
The weather was against us, but luckily the patrons were not and the inaugural event was well attended by dog owners, volunteers and entertainers.
Our Adore Animals Foundation ambassador Alanna Deutrom rocked the house and also led a group sing-a-long (in between the rain) of Cat Steven’s I Love my Dog. Dubbed Australia’s next rock chick, Alanna is one talented superstar set for the world stage. While we think she’s an amazing artist, we especially adore her comittment to our Foundation, so thanks Alanna!
Other entertainment on the day included Georga Burns and her band, Brendan a.k.a Mr Balloon Man (his creations are out of this world) talks from Lort Smith vets and a guest appearance from the lovely Giaan Rooney. There were also competitions and giveaways from Petbarn and Aussie author Isabelle Carmody. Other sponsors of the day included Hydro Dog who, with their merry team of volunteers made the day possible, the ever-smiling Paul from pjt greenplumbing, Peter from Furrever Photography, Carmel from Aussie Farmers Direct and the generous Jo Stewart. And of course, from Lort Smith, the always entertaining Shane Buzza spent hours coordinating and gathering volunteers. A huge thank you to him and also to Stage Managers Emily and Kimberley who assisted Lisa on the day.
The World’s Greatest Dog Wash was the brainchild of Helen and Daniel from Neo Tokyo who put in a super-human effort indeed (they slept for days afterwards!)
Preparations are already underway for Dog Wash number two … let’s hope the weather this October is better!
